I used to be Lost!

I am a FTM, or transgender according to society; but, inside I am a man. Many of us know and share the same story of the unsupportive family and friend- this is also my case to a certain extent. I do have the support of my sister and fiance- whom I have been with for almost four years.

During my younger years, I could not understand why I differed so much for the females I encountered daily. I walked, talked, sat, ate, played, and thought like a male; but, my body did not match. I wanted to tell someone how I felt but never had the courage, and when I did find the courage, I overheard a conversation my entire family engaged in- about their disapproval of gays. I knew that if they could not accept gays then they definitely could not accept a transgender, so I kept quite once again. Finally enough was enough- I started to dress male and then I told my mother. She handled the news better than some parents but not as well as I wish she had. Once you tell one, they all seem to find out. I just acted like I didn’t know they knew or atleast didn’t care. I am now 21 years old and overly ready to continue my transformation. I do not have all of the information pertaining to the steps and resources I may need but I’ll get there. To anyone who is experiencing anything as I have described or if you just feel alone- remember, the only person who needs to love you is you. If doing what ever you do makes you complete, don’t stop for anyone. They will either accept it or not but you can not and should not sacrifice your happiness for anyone. This is your life and you only get one, so don’t hold back and don’t be afraid to be you! If you feel you need a friend or more advice ( even if your older than I) don’t hesitate to comment - my name is Blake and I am here anytime. Well in between work and college.

Keep your head up and never give up on yourself!
